Monday Oscar Update

The weekend started pretty good. Oscar woke up Saturday feeling better, so we went for a drive to see Becca at work, then to the thrift store to buy two x-large shirts, so he can hide his drain a bit better, the fever had broken and he was "comfortable" with the pain meds only 1 tablet every 4 to 5 hours. All his brothers & families joined us for a nice BBQ in the afternoon and then around 3pm a small pain he was having in his right shoulder blade area went from small to major discomfort. We increased the meds again which sent him back into comatose land but the pain got ahead of him and we couldn't get it back in control.

We talked to the doc and the symptoms sounding very much like a pulmonary embolism, we made our way back to UCD ER and spent from 9pm to 3am figuring out that he just over did it, there was referred pain from the drain and he cut back to quickly on the pain meds..... 3 doses of Morphine got everything back on track.

Fathers day was very simple since he slept about 75% of the day. He and I had breakfast in the backyard around 9am and he spent some time with Becca & Joe. Then took a long nap. Around 11am Otto came over and spent a few hours with him both talking and watching him sleep...lol. Winter made an appearance with her parents in the early evening. I had a nice day, took a walk in the afternoon with Otto and Winter, while Oscar napped.

All the rest on yesterday must have been the ticket because he woke up this morning feeling "better". He is cutting down the meds more slowly this time. Hates the dizzy/loopy feeling he gets while taking them but is taking them. I'm at work so hopefully he will be good and rest today. Suz and Winter will be checking in on him at medicine time.... and possibly going for a walk today. You can tell he struggles with the inactivity of being ill.

I finally got a hold of the clinic and he has an appointment to get the drain pulled tomorrow. He is looking forward because he thinks that will really help him feel better.

Hope all the fathers out there had an awesome day!

Wow... Crazy. Glad it wasn't a pulmonary embolism. Yikes. Praying for some quick healing!

What a crazy weekend. I am so glad that the pain ended up to be nothing major. Hope he is able to get the drain out and start feeling better soon!!

My mom said morphine was like being "in a big, fluffy pillow"
